Buying advise pls - 110 Transit 57 plate

Postby Mossy » Fri Oct 22, 2010 11:41 am

Hi

Im just looking to purchase a transit, my budget seems to afford me a 56/57 plate and im after a mwb, semi hi roof preferably the glx, put ok for an lx spec in 110bhp. Is this a good choice, or are there any known problems with this age and engine. what should i look for on inspections. I currently run a mondeo st and known issues with that are the dmf, and pulley noises, will they be the same on the transit.

What spec gets you the 6 speed

I am presuming they are cambelts now on these engines

Basically any advise would be great to get me on the road with a vehicle,

oh and just remembered is there any injector issues on these vehicles as i had to replace the injectors on my mondy and thats not that cheap

Cheers

They have a timing chain not belt, as far as I am aware they dont seem to be suffering from the same injector problems as the MK 6 TDCi and the Mondeos, but time will tell, I dont think you got a 6 speed FWD till 2008 when the 140ps came out.
The biggest problem on MK 7 seem to be the EGR valve, as long as it has a full Ford history you should be ok :D
