Building a dropwell luton onto a transit luton chassis

Postby Patt959 » Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:07 pm

I run a small removal company in London and I currently have a LWB transit luton, its done 170k and is still going strong. I am looking to invest in a new luton and was thinking to buy just the chassis and have a dropwell body built on to it for maximum capacity. My first question would be, would it be worth getting a new dropwell body built onto my current chassis as well or should I just leave it as it is - Considering the new body comes to around £8k all in is it worth spending £8k on it when it has already done 170k miles?

also when it comes to buying just a chassis for a luton where is best to go?

any advice anyone has would be welcomed. At the moment, as far as I can see, I'm looking at around £10-15k for a fairly new chassis plus the £8k for the newly built body.

the body comes from: http://www.blsearle.co.uk/Dropwell-Luton-Bodies.php

I wouldn't spend 8k on an old chassis, I'd put it on a new chassis
