It's not exactly the camper I would want myself (I don't like beds over cabs, for one) but it does look very nice.

His owner is obviously an excellent craftsman who took a lot of pride in his work.

What I would like to know is what's the purpose of *two* roof ladders.

Nobody answered so I had to work it out for myself.

I'm certain their purpose is to also double up as body protectors/bumpers and it's not a bad idea at all.

Those spare wheels on the front doors also make a lot of sense considering the "wasted" width gap between the cab and the living quarters (the same thing would look awful in a standard van) and I wonder how many other original things this guy did that don't even show in those photos.

There is obviously an awning on the left side but what's that thing over the windows on the right side?

The obvious answer should be, "another awning" considering its placement, but why does it look different to the one on the left side?

Could it be something else?

You've got that order reversed; "rust free" comes first and "nice" last.

You have no idea how many vehicles disappear into a pile of rust simply because their owners feel their vehicles wouldn't look as nice if they started addressing their body and rust problems as a matter of urgency, even if they have to drive an "ugly" vehicle with different colour patches in the meantime until they finish the job and make it look "nice" again.

I rather drive a totally rust free, ugly, brush painted vehicle (which I do  ) that's going to last me at least another twenty years than one that's just a nice looking rust bucket, and keep in mind I'm not referring to the subject of this thread in this case, which I'm sure is not an example of what I'm talking about now.

I knew a guy with a big backyard and very little brains who inherited a big Coronet caravan (a once top brand in Australia very suitable for very tall people) that had some relatively minor roof leaks through its aluminium body which could have been easily fixed even with chewing gum, at least until he had the time and the money to do what he knew he had to do which was replacing the aluminium cladding in the roof and rear wall (I was pestering him about it for years and I even offered to help him for free) but he sat on his hands until that beutiful caravan turned into a totally ruined soggy wooden box on wheels and all he saved from it on the end was the fridge, stove, sink and a few other minor things which might have been just enough money to pay for its removal.

Even the floor and chassis was a mess; he could have got a LOT of money for it had he sold it as a damaged caravan while that damage was still fresh and even though I didn't have anywhere to store it at the time to work on it I would have tripped over myself to give him a few thousand dollars for it plus a couple of TV sets, MW oven and whatever else I had that he wanted.

Some people are just f@#^*& vandals that should not be allowed to own anything, but don't you get me started on that! :x  :( :)

And now I better go and fix that coin sized rust spot on that ungalvanised bonnet of mine before the job gets bigger.

Hey, I was admiring this van a while back and have come to have another look
for some inspiration but it seems the piccies have gone from face book.

any chance of reinstating them or perhaps sending me the pics.

Cheers
