dorisgirlracer wrote:after owning over 20 different vans in the last 5 years this includes french vans(load of sh*te) i keep going back to the transit, this includes 3 different mk6 vans and a mk6 crew cab recovery truck which was on a 51 plate this was one of the worst vehicles i bought as it looked very nice and clean BUT when i put my mk2 granada (banger car) on the back the chassis cracked just behind the cab.so i have now gone back to the mk5 transit 190 recovery truck.after spending 2 weeks cleaning painting and servicing this is the best truck ive ever owned.keep the mk5s going you cant beat them.

You can beat Mk5s, quite easily, all you need is a hill

Not a turbo'ed or Cossied one you can't

I was comparing 2 diesels, a diesel mk6 and a diesel Vivaro and the Vivaro was so much quicker, the mk6 drove like a bag of sh*t and was glad to get back in my mk5 at the end of the day :D :D

Now go and test drive a TDCI Transit, then you'll see which one is a real van :!:

Indeed though I have not driven a TDCI transit I have driven a TDCI Mondy and wow is all I can say still rather have an old mondy with zetec as they are bullet proof but I do admit I did really enjoy it

actually ive driven 2 different 100ps cdti vivaros, one was a dog the other actually the primastar but still the same, and had no were near the pulling power of any of the 100ps FWD TDDi's ive driven, yeah the vivaros are quick if you get them going and drive them right, but dont feel as if the have trhe same torque as a 100ps tddi.
then the tdci transit just takes the piss and blows everything away.

but if id only driven RWD 90ps or even 75ps tddi dogs with probably towing diffs then i would think vivaros were bettter,

Most people know that the Transit van is the most adaptable and varied commercial on the road aswell as their being twice as many on the road as any other vehicle.
other manufactours try and compete be selling under different names, so the trafic, vivaro, primastar (same vehicle)are still behind.

if the movano, master, interstar, trafic, vivaro and primastar, with all there different engines and power outputs, were all badged the same vehicle, then would be a better comparison to the transit.

i have to say my tdci is bloody fast sometimes  its shocks me and gives me a smile on my face like my focus rs use too 8) 8)
i havnt had many races but i did once with andrewv8 in a rover turbo running 200bhp and he just got me in the end but this was a turbo car
so for a van it does go well
when i was thinking of buying a mk6 i had a tddi 100ps halmark on demo for the weekend i loved it , i also couldnt belive how nice it was compaid to the mk5 it was a complete step forward in time
i wouldnt have a mk5 unless it was turbo ,the noise from the na i just cant stand it!
i also thourt wow the mk6 100ps tddi was quick

then my dealer offerd me the 125 tdci for no extra cost so i had it anyway
so far in over 4 years its not let me down attal and is used everyday so fingers crossed i have a goodun infact i like it so much i havnt changed to a mk7 yet

oh and as for towing all i can say is its vantastic 8) 8)

Well, I went from a mk5 Transit :D to a Vivaro, then I went to a mk6! 8)
Vivaro's are ok if you have a plentiful supply of gearboxes!!
Then a few other parts, like gearbox cables, and clutches!
The Mk6 is 75ps, but pulls better than that Vivaro even at 100ps.
So, there's my input! I feel a lot better now!
In a MK6 280 SWB semi hi!!!!
There you go! At last!
