I am trying to decide what body shell this is based on, SWB or LWB, could be the latter with a lowered roof. And LHD too.

Postby BigMac » Wed Jul 06, 2005 5:05 pm

THE VAN STARTETD LIFE AS A L.W.B THEN THE ROOF WAS CUT OFF.A FIBERGLASS ROOF WAS MAID AND RIVERTED TO THE SIDE RAILS. IT WAS A LEFT HAND DRIVE AT NEW . THIS IS WHY IT HAD THE SLD ON THE OS ' AS FOR THE REAR AXEL IT WAS MOVED FORWARD SO A SECOND ONE COULD BE PUT IN. THE TWO REAR AXELS ARE FROM A GRANADA. THIS IS ONE VAN THAT WASENT MENT TO BE USED AS A DAY TO DAY VAN IT WAS A SHOW VAN ONLY

Ya just reminded me Luke, yes I did. I will dig them out and post them. They are a tad upsetting, but nothing that scares me.

I have to say this van has seen better days, and it's sad that she should come to this, looking this way and sitting on some waste ground unloved. SOMEBODY SAVE HER!!

Image
The lines are still there, but all of the glass (original and custom) has gone. At least without the glass you could get to the bodywork.

This is the very worst bit, in my opinion. I still think that she could be saved. As I said without the glass and all of the fittings, it's easy to get to the shell for repairs and painting. It might even be possible to change her to RHD at this stage.

  what a shame she has ended up like that!!!
Would be a shame if she was scrapped!! im sure a donor van could supply repair panels for the under windscreen rot!!

I presume the rear lights were blanked off before leaving only the mk2 granada lights :? and has the side door been added later it doesnt seem to be on the 1st picture!!

The original lights had a blanking plate, still with the van but now laying in the back (if you stuck with the grannie lights I think it would be better to smooth over the original lights altogether).
Good point about the side door. it's a gullwing and doesn't have a handle so maybe wasn't obvious in the original pic cos it wasn't open. The front doors have been returned to the original hinges.
