Sad looking MK1

I found this Transit about 4/5 years ago down a wee country lane round the corner from where I live now. It's still there accompanied by the Bedford Box van in the second picture.

The tax disk in the window of the MK1 Transit says proudly "83" (I think - it's something around that era). The place where these two vans are sitting is a very strange place. There's old lawnmowers, dumper trucks, half tractors, hedge cutting things and lorries scattered around the yard next to an old half fallen down building. It just looks like whoever owned the place has died and no one has claimed or touched anything in the yard since.

The Transit could yeild a lot of good spares - there's a V4 engine and gearbox still in it (well it's sitting on the ground now I think) but it has the complete dash and interior etc etc.

No, it's in Northern Ireland I'm afraid.

I would have recovered this myself if there was any conceivable way of getting it out in one piece. Even with a crane you couldn't get this out.

It's destined to rust in piece down that lane.

where theres a will theres a way

Very very offtopic Anecdote.

Seeing this phrase in use I remembered this:

We have one stupid model girl in Finland, a kind of celebrity. She had a tattoo on her stomach " there where is will, there is a road". Didn't take long before she had it corrected  But on this gossip magazine she was still proudly presenting her new tattoo...

She is lookable tough.

Went back this afternoon and took some more photos of the MK1...

If you look closely you can just make out the "81" on the tax disk.

And this is the reason why it'll never ever come out of the field. This is the view from the actual lane where I can park my car. The Transit is in front of the Bedford but you can't even see it - it's roughly where the big rusty looking thing is.

bryan im not telling you to steal these bits but............................. the dash top - (if its mint) and the wood effect paneling - in its unmolested condition - ie no radio hole, are worth a few quid  if you were to have some similar and sell them on here for £20 you would be doing both yourself and the recipient a favour

btw - im not after them - im sorted now with mint dash
