Transit mk1 Stretch limo/pickup!!! LOOK AT THIS

Postby Vandalism » Mon Nov 22, 2010 8:12 pm

WHAT IS THIS - my eyes nearly popped out of my head when i saw this - it looks like a transit limo/pickup, clearly 2 transits made into 1.
was this ever on the road?
who built it?
fair play to them it cant have been an easy thing to build,
it also may have had twin petrol tanks as it has fuel cap holes each side of the body.
What a shame it ended this way it would have made a FANTASTIC addition to shows and would have got loads of looks if some one had rescued it

ive just recently found some info on a banger site that says

"One of three built by Ford to transport the works F2000 single seaters the rear light housing swung out and the pick up bed was flat and they went round the race tracks promoting it also had twin fuel tanks one for normal petrol and one for racing fuel with a switch on the dash to swap the pumps over also had coilover spax suspension jag wheel adapters and it was powered by a essex 3litre v6 Turbo engine!"

  if thats true.....i wonder if theres any pics of the van when it was being used.....waste..just a waste

yea waisted that sliding door, i think someone started to make a limo transit got board with it and then some one else raced it, if it was a ford build some one would have some pics of it back in the day, paper clippings or remember seeing it, and all that van with single wheels if ford made that for towing it would of been twin wheel, could you imagen ford building that and get pulled for over loading????? yea they would get free advertising but wouldnt look good would it. no thats a home brew.

Banger boys have no sentiment over the vehicles they race, as a Granada enthusiast i'm always seeing or hearing of rare or mint condition Granadas being raced, it has upset the classic car scene many a time when something rare or mint gets raced but at the end of the day it's their car so they can do what they like with it, we could all say "why don't they race Mondeos or something like that" but even they will become rare and classic one day
