Potential purchase

Postby dawky » Mon Sep 05, 2005 3:24 pm

Any help appreciated on this one as I might be a new recruit to the transit club.
I have the chance to buy a 1972 camper in original condition having been dry stored and completed only 33000miles. It is mint condition. Asking price is £4500. Reasonable?? Also what sort of MPG am I likely to get? Also are spares a problem with this age vehicle?

Sorry for asll the questions. :D

MPG depends on what engine it's got in it!

Cheers for the reply. With the price of petrol as it is I was hoping I might get a little better. Any possibility of converting to LPG?
cheers

Tis expensive niel i agree :D but compaired to depreciation on a "modern" camper it isnt too bad! :D
For the money ive spent on restoring my mk1 i could have bought a mk6 which i would agree is a better van! - but it just isnt what i want!! and in 5 years time my mk1 will be worth more than the mk6 i could have bought!!! :D

neil yes its alot of money but will only be worth more in the long run ,look at the splittys 20-24k a few years ago you could of got one for £500 ,transit mk1,s are getting thourt after now,the amount of money i have spent on mine is alot and will take alot more money ,but its what you are into ,if you like the classic apeal then a mk1 is it, £4500 is alot but not when you think for that you would find a rust old mk3 on a D plate :( if the mk1 is as nice as it looks it will hold its money ! look at panel vans they are starting to fetch good money and the lwb is that hardest to find! as most of them were worked to death! :D this is only my opinion! :D
