My new Transit

Postby Lee J » Wed Sep 21, 2005 11:19 am

OK, technical questions.

2001 Y Transit 350 LWB (new shape)

1. My interior lights dont work & my dashboard clock isn't working too. Are these on the same fuse perhaps? Any help?

2. The numbers on my tripometer stopped turning. Both sets stopped at the same time. The speedo still works/illuminates etc just the numbers wont go around. Any clues?

3. How difficult is it to replace the rear interior lights with something more substantial like a 12 volt caravan light or summat?

that should keep you going for a bit. :D

For number 1 you need to check fuse number 10, this is probably the cause of number 2 as well.

Quite easy to replace the light in the back as it's only 2 wires as for replacing the front one, it would probably be quite hard to find something to fit the hole in the roof lining.

OK, so fuse number 10 could be causing my tripometer fault too? My tripometer ISN'T digital does this make a difference?

Not digital okay, probably not the fuse. I'll have a look!

It might be a fuse as it is electronic, so check all the fuses.

Has it worked at all since you've had it?

Check to make sure the reset button isn't stuck in! I know it sounds silly but you never know!

I dont think it has, I only noticed yesterday. I've had it into Ford to check it hasn't been tampered with and they say it's clean. the milages from services & MOT's match up etc

OK people here's what happened...

I changed the fuse for the interior lights and hey presto the int.lights work a treat and so does the clock! Oh by the way it fuse number 60 in a 2001 new shape tranny. It's in the passenger side fuse box.

My radio is still playing up though. It wont work unless i slighty push the flip of piece in and then it requires a code (which I aint got and neither has the previous owner). I tried the factory standard code but it didnt work. It also is missing the ffwd and rwd buttons so I guess I'll just replace the whole radio for a newer one. It's currently got the Radio 3000 in. A Radio 4000 (cd) or a 4000 traffic (cd) should work shouldn't it?
