Its not strong enought, if a 2litre trannie can kill one, it ain't gonna like being feed the 24v power.

When my car was converted, the gearbox was swapped for a MT, I was told the life expectance of a T9 with a 24v attached was two weeks :o:o

Have you read this thread? http://www.fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1835

i would fit an mt75 if i was doing one!! :D - or should that be when!!

If you do get the plate made any chance of a drawing - i was thinking of modding the pinto plate - i reckon that would be easier!! :?

Its not the bhp that does the damage, its the torque!
The 24v has dollops of it! when they are on cam that is, otherwise bugger all!

Hit 3600rpm, everything becomes a blur, and the speedo thinks its a rev counter!!

The 24V has less torque than the 12V cologne, type9's are weak but not that weak, Later xr4i boxes have larger bearings.
A mate has just sold a 24V cortina and he's had a type 9 (same one) in it since it was built over 8 years back, you just have to be carefull off the line and only abuse em when your rolling
Mt's are fine, seen supercharged 24V with MT75's on em and no trouble.
Current fleet
Mk7 transit ambulance
Mk1 Mondeo 1.8 STD
Mk5 fiesta 1.25
Mk6 fiesta 1.4TDCi

Yeah there's also the weight to consider a mk1 that weighs 800kg will do a lot less damage to the gearbox than a tranny carrying 2 tons!! :D
I went through all this before i chose to fit a type9! :D
i think also all the tranny ones have the larger bearing on too! - well all the ones ive seen have!!! :D

Same bloke who built the Mk3 built the Mk4 (it was his first 24V conversion).
He's done a Mk2 transit 24V as well.
