is this it here will it work ok if i dont re calibrate or learn it ?
also just to add when the engine warms up its more or less back to normal ....but occasionally wants to cut out ? is this still in line with symptoms of failure of this item ?

That's the one yes!captainkevey wrote:

and will the system self purge ?

Sir mine wont give full power any clues......knobby1 wrote:captainkevey wrote:no amount of gas pedal pumping will affect the revs and it stalls
Wasting your time pumping the pedal, it's "fly-by-wire"....and will only respond when the PCM lets it. If the fuel pressure is too high or too low, rpm too low, ( under ~800rpm) after start, the throttle will be disabled.
The SCV basically controls the fuel pressure, when it plays up the PRV is the thing which suffers, when the pressure get too high, above 1600bar, the PRV blows....the PCM then sees the low pressure and stops the injectors from opening which is possibly what you're seeing when she konks out. If your SCV is duff, it more than likely has taken the PRV with it.
Don't buy ebay specials...or you'll be buying them again....they're often poor quality copies and rarely pass the learns procedure. Buy genuine Ford/Denso.....PF Jones is also a good supplier.
The learns "Must" be done after a new set of valves are fitted...also a PCM update if it hasn't been done recently. The engine will never run properly if you don't and you run the risk of things failing again. Ideally the learns should be done at each major service....as the pump, valves and injectors wear, they need re-calibrating to keep them at their best.
A lot of us have IDS and/or Forscan to do this....saves a lot of time and money as the dealers charge an arm, leg, left testicle and first born to do it.... and if it fails the learns, you'll need to get it repaired...and do it all over again costing more time and money.

I'm due to SCV replacing.
PFJONES part on its way:

Question 1:
Is this Modified ELM good for learning?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-USB-Mo ... :rk:8:pf:0
Question 2:
Is there any step by step forscan guide how to do learning procedure?
Question 3:
My engine been mapped - will learning make any impact to my mod?
TIA!

1. Yup, it's got an FTDI chip so it should work with forscan
2. Forscan itself will guide you. It's very simple you'll see.
You connect to the car, click on the service procedures icon (wrench).
There's 4 of them you will want to run
- Fuel injection pump learn
- Reset the fuel pressure relief valve open count learned value
- Reset the fuel pressure relief valve open duration learned value
- Fuel injection pilot correction learn
3. As far as I understand, it won't. It doesn't change the mapping at all. It's just a fine tuning of the scv and injectors.
