Headlight Main beam / switch problem?

Postby Transvestite » Thu Nov 24, 2005 1:22 am

OK. It's like this:

All bulbs are fine (new).

Turn the lights on to sidelights/dim-dip and the buzzer sounds faintly.

Turn the lights on to normal and the main beam lamp on the dash is lit up and the left headlight main beam is on, the right headlamp is OK/normal

Pull the flasher and the right main beam comes on as normal, and the left main beam stays on full beam as it was

Push the flasher to leave the main beams on and the left headlight goes dull, the right headlight works as normal.

So where d'ya reckon the fault is? I'm thinking the indicator/main beam stalk is most likely? What else could it be? Wiring or relay?

Please help lads!

Ta

Yeah could be earth/wiring... just it's difficult to know where to start looking!!

Deffo not bulbs or terminals - they are all fine... must be wiring, switch or relay.

Try getting a long length of wire - bare the end and connect it directly to the earth terminal of the battery!!
then with the other end touch it on the earth points in turn ie lights etc while it is switched on! if it goes bright again - thats the problem earth and youve cracked it!! :D

just be careful not to touch it on any live terminals
