mate that engine had been to the moon and back.

By your own admission you were having to nurse it through the winter.

Just give the poor tortured thing a decent send off and look after the replacement a bit better

Its not the gas that causes the seat to fall out its the nut behind the wheel letting it over heat ya muppet
I will second that, valve seats are sweated in so the only way they 'fall' out is when the heat is equal or above the temperature that was used to fit the in the first place.
No amount of high revs is going to make one drop out.

the drain plug came out of radiator whilst driving ...this shut down the lpg straight away so no damage to the engine...so zip it!

No.

Where the correspondence from the AA? There isn't any, is there?

Maybe he should try over reving his new engine to prove his theory, bet the valves will go through the pistons before the valve seats fall out.If a bird had his brain he would fly backwards

But look at the evidence!!!

Here's some more......

My imaginary mechanic sent me this message.

"hi Steve,
That totally neglected and roasted engine wasn't your fault, what happened was, a big boy broke it and ran away!"

What more evidence do you need?

How did the lpg know that the drain plug had fallen out before the engine got hot? Can you get V-Power LPG which has psychic abilities?

Mike are you a total idiot :?:

he had installed the "emergency LPG cut off switch" directly under the drain plug.
So if the plug ever fell out it would shut the lpg off thus causing no damage.

The guy is a genius

I have thrashed loads of pinto engines when i used to do banger racing with cortinas and sierras, they can run at full speed for ages and even go from 3rd gear to 1st and rev to god knows what and i never popped one that way, stripped a few teeth on belts and bent valves.. when the engines get red hot and when i mean red hot i mean running round a circuit with no water in for a good few minutes bouncing off the limiter or valve bounce they do have a habit of the valve inserts falling out.... so the AA man revving it from cold dont stand as banger cars get thrashed from cold..

ahh but there is a small chance it can happen and you are not talking about a stationary engine..big difference, sometimes i honestly think i'm talking to a bunch of retards on this site so why do i bother?...and thats what happened with my engine...so the golden rule is you dont over rev while at a standstill...or you are playing russian roulette and thats what the AA man did..no excuse, the man should have known better...total plonker in my view
