banana disky thingy

Postby rallyevo3 » Sun Nov 27, 2005 6:33 pm

Mines a banana engine.. what bhp are they? also the disc thingy on the right looks like it should have a cable on it but doesn't... what does that do and should I be worried? it's in the pipe between the air filter and the engine and I can't see anything that operates it so it must stay closed..

Looking around the site it's the connection from the diesel pump to the egr that is missing..
1. Why would someone remove that?

2. What is the result?

Thanks

 Its called the EGR look through tech probs section there been a lot of questions about it but as long as the valve is in the open position it will be ok A lot of people diconect them but word of warning my mate took the rod off his wedged open the valve but got stopped one day by ministry they made him get an emisions check done it was all ok so we put the rod back on but took out the butterfly so if anyone looked under bonnet everything looks in place

I think it's in the closed position... is that possible? Why are they taken off... does it go better... more MPG... or what?

 Its all to do with emmisions etc there will be a smallpipe that goes down to exhaust manifold on my mates we blanked that off and removed the butterfly all together passed emmisions ok and seemed to go better  If its in closed position it will be restricting the airflow Id open it up see if goes any better
