Mk7 Light bulbs

Postby Uncle_Fester » Fri Oct 15, 2021 5:13 pm

Hello all, probably a newbie question but the manual doesn't say.
What type of headlamp bulbs are fitted, is it a canbus system and can I use LED bulbs..

(2013 2.2 tdci)

Cheers

Fester

Fitted are H4 Halogens, and yes, it has a Can-Bus. Not sure about LED bulbs, I've never tried.

You'll find the any high output bulbs will be a waste of money in MK7 headlights. Correctly aligned Osram Nightbreakers will be more than adequate though.

The can-bus may not extend to the lighting circuits, I just assumed that it did, but as Mike has said, the standard headlight reflectors don't work well with LEDs or HIDs, but a good quality H4 will make a difference over the standard ones.

I've used Philips Extreme, and Osram Nightbreakers in mine, both with good results.

Sorry to "wake up" an old thread but I wondered if you could remember the make of your LED H4 bulbs.

I've seen them at so many different prices, I don't know where to go :?

If your headlamps are original Ford units and the little square silver shroud piece at the front of the bulb in the headlamp assy is there, it will be fine as long as you install the LED vertically, if horrizontal, the beam is useless.
