I know where you plug it in I think, if you pull out the bit that holds the spare fuses in the fuse box there is a multipin plug I would guess this is it!?

Autobox.

Postby Terry » Fri Dec 02, 2005 1:21 pm

Hi
As well as the tranny I have a 2.3 Scorpio Estate auto, it has the same box as yours.
Mine was reluctant to engage when pulling off from cold, I was told an oil & filter change would cure it...... Stunningly it has.
Make sure the refill is with Dextron 2....... as a matter of interest it isn't difficult to do but bl**dy messy, theres no drain plug on the gearbox sump, and you cant empty the torque converter so it may pay to do it
twice, a week apart. When refilling make sure you get the engine good and warm then run through the shift sequence at least 3 times, then check the level, then shift sequence 3 times until you get the level right !
The Scorpios are also OBD 2 (On Board Diagnostics) a couple of the guys on there have leads & laptops, Nearest to you probably is a guy Barry in Barnet. I'll check it out this evenng and let you know ( they are not Scorpio fanatical and quite happy about other helping people with other makes, besides which he has a Mk 1 Camper, V4 but more than that I don't know)
I got a little black book with me poems in

Mark
I you drive along normally and when it should go into top momentarily lift off the gas , if it goes in, then its the solenoid.

The guy isn't on the other forum this evening , so I will wait & p.m. him in the morning
( he often does OBD 2 scans at South Mimms services) if you can get there I am sure he will oblige..... (I have no idea if the codes are the same across the range I am assuming so).
