Transit mk7 won`t start

Hi guys, Transit MK7 2.2 2011 slowly died on way home tonight. Did notice a slightly different noise when I accelerated on motorway and as I slowed to come off had loss of power. Chugged along for a couple of hundred meters until I stopped at island then it stalled and wouldn`t start. Does splutter a little on ignition but no joy.
Any advice appreciated.

Euro-4 or Euro-5.??...2011 was the changeover year..

Have you had the codes read..??

Had codes read and not a lot to report. said it was having electrical issue possibly alternator but i`m not having any trouble with charging. looks like its not getting derv
out of the filter?

If you remove the fuel filter, is it empty or 1/2 empty..??

I wonder if the fuel pick-up in the tank is not well..?? Blocked fuel filler cap breather maybe..??

Removed filter and its full. Might have been wrong about fuel supply. Frustrating!

If ignition is on should pump be sucking diesel from the filter?

No, the fuel pump is mechanically driven by the inlet camshaft on the FWD Euro-4 engine....so engine needs to be running for the pump to do anything.
