I have a Mk8 65 2.2 40k. Driving on the motorway and longer roads with it in 5th or 6th doing 65 ish mph, the clutch seems to disengage lose drive and the engine revs up. I then push the pedal down that has gone hard to push, it then only lifts back up half way and have to lift it up with my foot, it then engages and drives again. This has happened a few times. Any other time driving locally the pedal is normal and no clutch slip. I was advised it could be something to do with the clutch failing?. If it is the clutch and needs changing,do i have a DMF or a solid replaced?

Sounds like the DMF or pressure plate is failing. Yes, they had a DMF from the factory.

I remember reading a while ago, people change the DMF for the solid flywheel, is that an option or stick with a DMF. Whats the difference? Need to order the clutch kit, is genuine ford the best to buy.
