stupid question.....

Postby throbley » Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:42 pm

Hi, sorry I have a bit of a stupid question...…I have a 60 reg jumbo 2.4 rwd, this morning i got up to a puddle of oil under the van, passenger side …..when I have a look underneath whilst it was running there it was dripping from the water pump, where it meets the block....my stupid question is....is there an oil feed into the water pump? because when looking in the Haynes manual it only says to drain the coolant when changing the water pump....doesn't mention oil....

The oil feed to brake vacuum pump, which sits on top of water pump, passes through galleries in the water pump.
There is a metal gasket between water pump and the engine block if your certain that’s where leak is from.

What Frag said....they normally leak between the water pump and vacuum pump too.
