DPF Regen issue mk8

Postby eddynoodles » Wed May 24, 2023 5:32 pm

Hi all, i have a 2017 Mk8 Transit motorhome 2.0l ecoblue engine with a DPF issue.
Originally months ago my motorhome gave the usual message that it needed to regen, Further on down the motorway, It started shouting at me that it desperately needed to regen without doing so, then obviously got to the point where it gave the error Filter over limit please service now...plus on top of that the adblue system counted down the miles to no start.
Stuck in Devon i got someone to map the Adblue out so i could get home but ever since i'm still getting the DPF issue.
To date i got it scanned and was advised it was the pressure sensor - changed that with no joy
Got a DPF guy out to clean the DPF and he diagnosed a faulty EGT sensor, Bank 1 sensor 1 - changed that but with no joy
Got fed up and have bought a scanner and downloaded Forscan.
Forscan shows 0 degrees C and no voltage on the live readings but when i check using a multimeter i'm showing that the live 5V is active to sensor plug.
Any ideas you lovely people?

Maybe no help but when my x minibus 2.2 with add blue wouldn’t regen it was a faulty thermostat not getting up to temperature.

Thanks dumper, don't think it's that as the engine water temperature seems to be getting up to temperature fine, but thanks anyway.

Mine was a bit slow on winter start up but in summer going by the gauge it was ok it was only when it failed a forced regen that the thermostat problem was found .my problem started when the heater in the add blue tank failed and it went into limp mode and wouldn’t regen after the add blue system was repaired.

@eddynoodles Are you still there, still unresolved?

Yes, the scan tool will say which circuit has the problem ... but the mechanic will change that sensor because it's easily unscrewable. As if the reason why it's unscrewable is because that's what's wrong, meanwhile the wiring harness isn't unscrewable and always "looks" OK. Replace what's easily unscrewable then send the customer away  .

Forscan shows 0 degrees C and no voltage on the live readings
check using a multimeter showing 5V to sensor plug.
Why don't more people actually do tests like this?

:?: 5V on both sides of the sensor and 'cold' on live data? It's probably nothing more than a broken conductor inside the other wire of the sensor. There's loads of salt spray on UK roads through the winter. The metal inside the wire rots away leaving the plastic perfectly intact. If you pull on a wire and it stretches then there's no continuous copper inside it.
