It looks pretty much like the 2.5Di that was fitted in my 1997 Mk5 Smiley Transit :?

It’s got pencil injectors so not a York looks like the 2.5 Di that was in my 1990 190 mk3 .I’m assuming that the inlet and exhaust manifolds mounting flanges are the same stud pattern for pre banana and banana engines are the so you could fit any transit engine with pencil injectors from a late mk3 on and if it has a egr on the engine you get I’d get rid of that when you fit it.

I agree its 2.5DI, if you can get the number off the injection pump I may be able to cross reference it and get a year, but the pump could have been changed as its been marinised, the number will be something like 0 460 414 089, the last three numbers are the important ones. It doesn't say Merlin Diesel anywhere on the engine does it?

they do on my phone though.

What I can tell you from those photos is that the base engine is

Transit 2.5Di
1989 Engine
70PS non turbo (van spec - in marine spec it may be different, my educated eye would say this will be 75)
An FSD Lancing Marine engine

If you want as close as is possible to get you can get one from a 1988 - 1991 transit.
1991 - 1994 non turbo engines were available as 70PS (inlet manifold like yours) or 80PS (manifold like a bunch of bananas)
1994 - 2000 non turbo engines were available as 70PS (inlet manifold like yours) or 76PS (manifold like a bunch of bananas)

Any non turbo engine from 1988-1991 will fit - but you will have to swap the marinized bits over (e.g. the bowman, fuel filter, and engine mounts) and some of the ancillary engine bits (e.g. thermostat housing). The alternator mounting arrangement looks different too If you get a 1996 onwards engine you will need to remove the immobiliser unit from the back of the injection pump too (easy job)

With your set up - it may be possible to fit a turbo engine, but with the Bowman unit im not sure - so I would avoid them if you can.

Whats your location?
