Mk7 clutch

Postby steviebee » Sun Oct 01, 2023 5:35 pm

Afternoon everyone. I have a problem with the clutch on my van. 2012 2.2 fwd 6 speed 125 bhp. When l let the clutch up nothing seems to happen for an inch or so also feels very soft then van lurches forward slightly. No problem getting gears very smooth and behaves after that initial pull away. New clutch master cylinder fitted as the arm was worn but made no difference. Thanks for any advice.

No it was there before and as the small nylon/plastic rod in the master cylinder was worn thought it was that .

Just been out to the van again. tried the clutch without engaging a gear. First inch or so felt soft then is was as though it jumped. Every depression of the cutch pedal after that felt good.

Found problem it was the Lower gearbox mounting. New one fitted all good now. Just shows you l had the lower gearbox mountain go on my Mk6 and it was juddering when pulling away. This was totally different.

Lower gearbox mount shouldn't affect the clutch at all...there's no mechanical connection and they aren't cable operated.... :? I'm confused.

Me as well your Lordliness. Pesky transit gremlins. Perhaps it was me not used to the clutch and just assumed it was the clutch. Still all good now, hopefully.
