Leaking Fuelfilter assembly and extras

Hello, let me introduce myself first. I am Benno, have a Ford Transit 1998 Camper (mk4-5 ?) and am getting this thing as good as can get. the van is not bad for it's age, got some rust on the fenders but this is solvable. Structurally it seems sound and drives good. One of the things i am struggling with was a leaking fuel assembly. I thought it was the filter but it seems to be leaking from the assembly itself. On top is a black fitting with a solenoid on it. Can find nothing about it on the web except in this linked page but that is without any descriptions further.

I ordered a new fuel filter assembly one from TransitCenter and mounted that. On top of the old assembly (and new) is a separate connection for a solenoid valve with wiring. this seems to go to the inlet manifold and i guess it is some sort of Coldstart injector. I cannot get it mounted without serious leakage. For the moment i have left it of, disconnected the power to the solenoid and the van starts and runs just fine.

What is it, is it a Cold Start valve and can i get gaskets for it somewhere. the red gasket on the solenoid seems to be the leaking part ?

Can i just leave it off and what will this do with driveability etc.

Yes its a cold start system, there is a flame plug in the inlet manifold and the solenoid on the filter supplies fuel to it, only needed if you regularly get sub zero temps, otherwise leave it off.

Thanks for the reply. I wouldn't mind to get it installed again but the gasket is worn on this one. I can never find a good partnumber for it or a source for these gaskets. For now i will leave it off but if someone knows what is the partnumber i will source myself the needed parts.

Sorry, not the same. On one of the other pages the correct cold start system is shown but no partnumbers. I am afraid there is nothing available for this anymore. Well at first try without. Most of the leaks are gone now. Also had a leaking retourline form the last injector to the t-split. Hopefully that is all for now from leakage point of view. will keep an eye on it thought the coming weeks.

I would get some gasket paper and make one yourself and try it, and it's cheap to try.

too simple, it is 3d gasket. Oring with an extra part fitted to seal the fuel jet from the rest of the mounting. Just an o-ring will not work. tried that one
