2.0 custom help with egr values

Postby Jaythesprayer » Thu Oct 19, 2023 4:46 pm

I still can not get my 2018 2.0 custom to start.
NO CODES on my scanner and Forscan
Was browsing today on Forscan looking at live data and came across EGR error was at 99.2%
Now this either means it’s closed or wide open, I’m guessing it would not start if it was wide open
Does anyone have the same vehicle with a scanner to check what theirs is showing.
IGN on, obviously not starting because it won’t lol

So I have
Egr command 0%
Egr error 99.2%
Fuel rail pressure 1120 kpa (not sure if this is normal)

Any help would be really appreciated guys

EGR valve open or closed will not stop the engine from starting. 1120kpa fuel rail pressure is nowhere near enough....generally they need ~300bar during cranking to enable starting.

Thanks for that info
That rail pressure is just ignition on, not cranking.
I will test while cranking
It won’t even fire with easy start

If it won't fire with easy start, I suspect as Altransit does....timing belt may have come adrift/snapped. The wet belts are known to fall to pieces....silly idea IMHO.

I did suspect that, so I called Ford
It wasn’t one that was recalled
It’s only done 37k miles with full Ford service history
Is there a way on Forscan to check, looking at the coloration of the crank and cam sensor?

If it has no "cam-crank sync" during cranking, belt will be the first thing to look at.

Thanks

Although i have looked everywhere on Forscan already as that was my plan also, but i can not seem to find cam-crank sync info on there

Checked rail pressure today and all ok 300 bar while cranking
Looked at belt through oil filler and looks brand new still
Now option to check eng-sync on Forscan for this model
Checked camshaft sensor position no fault
Checked power balance test- cambelt locater also ok

I am at a loss in diagnosing this
Anymore ideas
