OBD reader!?

Postby Tragustauro » Mon Dec 11, 2023 11:08 pm

For an old car/Truck like mine. Do anybody know which type of OBD reader I should invest in.

I know (if I´m correct) that the OBD-2 are for newer cars and is probably not working on a car from 1995.

Yours is a petrol?

You may well find it is OBD compliant. If not your best guess is forscan software (free for phone or laptop) with one of their recommended adaptors. Can't guarantee it will work, but it will (apparently) read diesel of the same age.

@ MinorMatt

Ohh interesting!!

Yes it is a petrol.

It is called "forscan software"?... I just checked it out.

Not even sure how to figure this one out. Don`t know where and how it looks on my car.

And what it is even called on my car to find the adapters I assume it is so old now that it is not being used anymore... I will investigate..

I thank you!

Have a look here

https://forscan.org/home.html

The connector for the diagnostics is in the fuse box. The socket uses the spare fuse holder as a lid

Hello.

Holy smokes!!

There is a lot to go thru!

A lot of "new" stuff to understand.

I will spend some time to see what I need for my type of car.

Thank again for your input.

Hello.

Would you say that this is the OBD "plug" reader connection?

I assume I need to get an adapter to be able to use a OBD reader!?
