Cheap but effective insulation/soundproofing ideas please!

Cheap, then cover anything metal in artificial lead flashing. I've done it to all the vans I've owned. It will peel off the roof though. For the roof, get some proper sound deadening sticky stuff.

This kills the vibration well for the cheapness

Cheap and it's butyl, so I wouldnt be surprised if it's at least 80% as good as the pricey stuff, if not 100%

5mm is very thick. See if you can buy it thinner and hopefully you will get twice the coverage.

I even used loft insulation in my early days. Very good until you start getting itchy eyes

Know what you mean that’s why the recycled bottle type is good not itchy at all .

The plastic recycled stuff is great for insulation (heat) but I found it did almost nothing to sound. But it is user friendly.

The proper carpet is the 4 way stretchable from suppliers like Magnum motorhomes .Yes the cheap foam backed.

i use sticky backed closed cell foam on the metal surfaces, it does a bit of both, noise reduction and insulation, then i used plastic bottle insulation over in places where it would fit, you can rip it in half if you need thinner, did my connect last year and it made a lot of differance, especialy when i sleep in the back
