BAD STARTING 2.4 DEISEL

Hi all I'm hoping some one can point me in the right direction on my transit 2.4 diesel lwb high top. The problem seems to be first thing in the morning
I have to turn ignition on and off about five times before it will start and when it does start there is a big cloud of white smoke, i have changed the heater plugs but this has made no change so i was wondering if there is a cold start relay i change or would this not help.

Check the glow plugs are getting power when you turn ignition on. There is a fuseable link in the wiring harness that can blow if your glow plugs failed shorter to earth rather than failing open circuit.

Mk6 or Mk7..?? You don't say which you have..??

Either way it will be by the engine bay fuse box.
