Postby sam td » Sat Dec 03, 2005 5:36 pm

Ok, it's a p reg, 2.5di engine. t turnsover perfectly but won't fire. I haven't delved too deep but i've cracked the injector nuts off and there is diesel at each one. Anybody go any idea before i start investigating??? Any help greatly appreciated!

Check the only wire on the injection pump, the stop soleniod. If it's off or broken, it will make it stall or not fire.

sorry to be bringer of bad tidings, but there is a high chance it could be cam belt. have you had it done recently?

you didn't mention if the engine sounded normal when it's turned over, if it's fast, it could be the cambelt and the damage (bent pushrods, damaged valves) could already have been done.

If there's diesel at the injectors, it wont be either of the above!

When you say it turns over 'perfectly' do you mean qucickly? cos a DI needs to turn pretty fast to fire, if you are unsure then get someone to give you a boost before going any further.

It turns over at the sort of normal speed i'd expect it to. Don't think it's the cambelt slipped or broken because there's no knocks/bangs/rattles etc. I think it could be the immobiliser though, that would make sense. I'll check it out. Thanks for the ideas so far peeps!

immobiliser would stop fuel delivery so it cant be that

try bleeding the injectors by cracking them all off, getting someone to crank the engine over and when the start spurting rythmically nip each one tight

do one at a time so as to not overheat the starter or wiring

mine started to fire once i'd done 3 of the 4 injectors and fired up sweetly as soon as i nipped up the last one

mine was caused by it running out of diesel tho
