whining noise?

Postby 100ps_drw_hicube » Sat Dec 10, 2005 10:44 pm

was driving the blue hicube today and all of a sudden when the engine was under load there is a loud whining noise coming from transmission area i know for a fact the clutch is on its last legs but is this likely to be the box or something like the release bearing any help would be great as i dont want to go and put a clutch in it only to find out the box is gone as well oh the noise stops if you dip the clutch and it only does it when driving over about 2000rpm :? :? :?

Is it screeching? If so it's the pressure plate, specially if it goes when dipping the clutch. A new clutch would cure it if so.

I don't think it's got much more in it, I had one like it (MT75), it fell apart when the gearbox was taken out! It will ge progressively LOUDER till it either gives up all together (no gears) or you can no longer stand it setting your teeth on edge and people turn to look where the terrible noise is coming from!
