The early 120/125 Mk6's had the lift pump on the fuel filter assembly. So I'm guessing you have a 2.4 RWD 120/125PS. You will have a VP-44 fuel pump.
As our Ned mentioned....You can actually fit a filter assembly from another Mk6 (without the lift pump) and it should run fine. It was deleted on the later models. Some even had a hand operated primer pump on top of the filter housing.

Hi Lord Knobrot,
My VH 2.4lt 90/350T 2002mdl suffered the similar fate about a year or so back. I now need it for work again, so I got all motivated to repair it.
So a year or so back the lift pump died (no lift pump sound at ignition and no start), found a good second hand lift pump and replaced it. Drove it for approx one month after that, no issue. A month or so later couldn't start it again. Thought is was lift pump again so mucked around with it on and off for a few days. Zilch, nothing, nada, wouldn't start. Got busy with work again so jumped into one of our VM's and the VH has just sat since.
Can a dead lift pump can cause overheating in the VP30 and fry's circuit boards and diaphragms etc? I also read somewhere to diagnose a faulty VP30, you should get a minimum of 2.5K ohms resistance between pins #6 and #7 and also 60 ohms between #1 and #2. Is this accurate? Any help appreciated.
You also mention the lift pumps can be deleted. Do they start OK without issue after the delete?
Been reading your posts for years which have been extremely helpful, so really appreciate that!
Any pointers you can help with is much appreciated!
