Advice needed - Good place for turbo Repair

Postby mattc610 » Sat Oct 07, 2023 12:45 pm

Hi

I had a new genuine ford turbo fitted on my 2012 MK7 FWD Euro 5 van last year and since then it's done minimal mileage as it's been converted into a camper.

Unluckily for me a couple of weeks ago the oil cooler split and dumped the majority of the oil about a mile from my home. I've fitted a new cooler, and the engine seems fine, but the turbo isn't making any boost so I assume that at the very least the bearings are shot.

I'm happy taking it off, but don't want to repair it with some random cartridge from eBay so am looking for a reputable company I can sent it to for a proper repair/rebuild.

Can you give me some recommendations on a good company to do the work.

Thanks
Matt

Did the oil mix with the water?

No, the outer casing split along one of the seams rather than going internally.

Looking on the bright side, I don't think the underside of the van is going to rust for a while.

Forgot to say, I'm down south, on the Surrey/West Sussex/Hampshire border. There are a couple of places advertising turbo repairs locally if anyone has heard of them and can give any feedback:

Carautofixer.co.uk - in Aldershot and
Turbospecialist.co.uk - in Farnborough

I’m in the same boat at the moment.

Where did you end up using and were you happy with the service??
