1997 Heater Blower failed

Postby Nic1234 » Wed Oct 30, 2024 1:02 pm

Hello, I recently purchase this van and discover that when I turn the ignition key the 30amp fuse immediately blows with a significant flash, even when the Fan speed control switch is off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If the fuse is blowing straight away, you must have a dead short somewhere in the blower/wiring.

unplug the heater motor and try again, sometimes the heater motor overheats and melts internaly shorting it out and or the heater switch can melt if the motor is rum on full for long periods of time :?:

Thanks Gents, I’ve disconnected the Blower and Speed Control Switch and the fuse still blows when ignition switch turn on. Is there a way for me, a below average tinkerer, to test where the fault is or are you able to point me towards an auto electrician?
