Unidentifiable noise

Postby TrannyVannie » Sat Nov 30, 2024 5:25 pm

Dear all,

We have been hearing a strange sound coming from our Ford Transit mk6 2.0 TDdi FWD. I tried to narrow down when it happens and where it comes from, but without much success. The only characteristics I managed to identify:
- Sounds like when a disc brake is touching the disc
- Only starts after we've been driving for more than 30min
- Seems to come from the right front

Does anyone have any clue what it could be or what we could do to get a better understanding of what it could be?

Many thanks in advance!

With that description it could be anything, I take it you've had both front wheels off to check pads wheelbearings etc, look at both sides as transits mk6 and mk7 confuse drivers of what side the noise is coming from

How are your tyres? I once had a similar issue on a different vehicle, when I changed back to summer tyres it never happened again. Until I put the winter tyres back on and the odd sound was back. Try putting your spare on that corner?
