Maf sensor mystery wires

Postby Trendswb » Sat Jan 25, 2025 11:39 pm

Hi all, im hoping someone could help me? My maf wires have been cut on my (new to me) 2.2 115 2010 fwd 6 speed van. There are no lights on the dash which seems weird to me as another car i had wouldn't even run with the maf unplugged. I'd assume its still hurting my mpg/bhp. I've got 4 cut wires from the loom dangling near the maf and 6 cut wires coming from the maf sensor. Has my van had an engine swap and I just need to buy a 4 wire maf to connect it all back up again? Any advice from you transit Oracles would be most appreciated, many thanks in advance

The few old ones I've got kicking about off mk7 2.2 fwd euro4 are all 4 pin including higher horse power maybe 2 of those wires branch off, I've got an old engine wiring loom somewhere I'll have a look see for it later and give you a shout

4 for maf and 2 to cam position sensor which must be connected or your van wouldn't, just read your post again I thought you had 6 at the loom sorry for mix up , have you looked to see how many pins you have in the maf ? May only be 4 and sombody been goung to use that plug but only using the 4 required runImageImageImage

Looks like it can just connect the central 4 wires on the maf and leave the other 2 spare outside wires that would have gone to the cam sensor disconnected. Shame the bloody colours don't match!

Actually I think I'm mistaken, dont think that is the cam sensor plug, for one your van wouldn't run and two looking at your pic I see the looms in a different position than i thought it run, think it might be temp sensor, I'll check tomorrow been a while since I had a mk7, I'll have a look on an engine I have sitting
Does your maf sensor have 4 or 6 pins??
