Glad to hear that you sorted the main bits and bobs

Coud do with a little more details now on this fault.

What model of radio?

how many interior lights, including in the rear?

Could you also check if your cigar lighter is on the same fuse, as quite often phone chargers bend the contacts inside the socket and cause this type of fault.

also, if you flick the interior light out of the headlining and pull the plug off....does it blow a fuse with the radio on?

or if it's easier, disconnect the radio and check?

we need to pin down which side of the circuit is causing the concern.

I've been reading this thread with interest but havn't had anything to contribute over Nighthawk's encyclopedic knowledge :D
This sounds weird. Do you have anything non-standard in your van? I'm thinking specifially of a phone kit, sat-nav or an alarm?

electrical-due to steam washing ((possibly)

Postby glastry » Tue Dec 13, 2005 4:05 pm

hi thanks for the interest
the original owner did say that there was an alarm wired over the existing
ford alarm- (might as well have said that it spoke german!!)

Aha!
I take it that you don't use this after market alarm then?
If it was me I would either repair it (if it's broken) and start using it or remove it completely. If it's just sat there conected to the electrics there's no telling what it might do! At least if you're using it regularly you know when it stops working.
Depending on how competent the original installer was the alarm could easily be the source of your trouble.
Steve

EDIT: Of course it could still just be a dodgy radio! :P Has the radio ever given trouble?
