Do i need a can bus for a Chiness android stereo?

Postby Fazerdenzil » Fri May 23, 2025 11:00 am

Hi all.
New here, i've bought a 2014 lwb hightop t350 125 Transit,
i'm going to be converting it. 1st thing to go is the rds 6000
stereo that only picks up local radio stations! I've bought an Essgoo
chiness android 4g ram stereo, i went for that for the good
reviews & price of £65, i paid £58 on an offer, i've had to buy wiring adaptor, facia surround, arial adaptor.
It's suppost to work with the steering wheel
controls, guess what, it does'nt! After more research i came
across what a can bus is for, so i think i need 1, so i searched
& searched for 1 for a Transit but can not find 1 apart from
on aliexpress! Seems weird to me, plenty for other Ford ones available.
My questions are, does 1 excist, do i need 1, if so where can i find 1
& not for £100 when other are around £20!? I would like
to use the s/w controls instead of reaching over so any
help will be well appreciated

you need it for the st wheel controls/reverse cam ect BUt i've tried 3 canbus decoders and non have worked, 2 drianed the battery overnight and one stopped the C/L from working, a bit of a PITA cos i fitted a ST wheel with CC and sterio controls, bought a laptop and forscan leads ect to enable it all
As far as i could see there are no propper "Ford" only decoders, they are generic and can bus is the same from manufacturer to manufacturer ? i gave up and just used the CC and put the reverse cam on a switch ??

i used a decent atoto brand, most reviews on the web are fake and or paid for, i've had plenty of offers via Yt for free goods in exchange for posative feedback or a good review

Does'nt surprise me, i've seen plenty of very similar reviews! I've since talked to someone who knows about these things, he showed me what to order, then told me the way i should power it up so it does what its suppost to do, apparently it has to be programed by using you controls as soon as you power it up or it'll do nothing, so i asked if he'll fit it, when it turns up & its fitted i'll let you know!
