Hood/bonnet switch/sensor

Postby Pasty_PFC » Thu May 01, 2025 5:53 pm

Hi

I need one of these. Can anyone help me with where to source one? Tried the usual places (eBay, Amazon etc).

Vehicle is a 2014 Transit Custom.

Can you see it here

Can you see it here

Here's the main wiring and electrical page.

Sorry but the lack of detail and description in fords info prevents me finding out any more .

I've searched ebay for mk8 and custom bonnet switches etc because custom likely the same.

Found nothing ..them searches bring up the bonnet locking / catch mechanism.

When such things happen you may have go to the main dealer.

Or graft something like this (not necessarily the right one ..but hundreds more on ebay all different sizes) chop old one out and it into it with araldite etc.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262558420165?

Or - you are not showing the size of it, or letting on that it is contained within the latch .in such a case, you have to buy the whole latch.

Or scarp yard / breakers.

BTW "PBT ASA GF30" -is not a part number ..it is the plastic material its made out of ..this info is for the recycling company. to ID the plastic.

Thanks for the detailed reply Mark.
Yes I did wonder if that was a plastic code, but with nothing else marked on it I hoped it would identify it. I had searched eBay and found the same latch assemblies. I’m surprised that it’s not a common/available part as it’s a delicate little component amongst a heavy latch and an extreme environment.

Yea thanks Mark, I found the latch assembly on eBay when I first looked, just want the sensor. For £20 I can’t imagine it’s a quality component.
