Rear lights problem.

Postby ranso73 » Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:05 pm

Hi,

The issue I’m having is when I indicate to turn left, the brake light and indicator light both glow very dim. I’ve looked at the bulbs and all are fine. I’ve checked the fuses (as best I could with the multitude of versions) and they all seem pretty ok.

I’ve noticed some corrosion on the black wire of the connector, sanded it down but still the same. Could it still be that or something else?

Many thanks for any efforts on this.

Usually the connectors either on the plug or the bulb holder, worth cleaning up the earth point to.

Replace the bulb holder if no luck or swap them from other side bulb holder. See if it switches sides.

Get a genuine holder about 25 quid if so

So I removed both light units and swapped them over, the left indicator then blinked alternating a dim orange and white (left turn and reverse), before it was alternating dim left turn and brake light. Using the left cluster on the right turn signal resulting in a working unit.

So, correct me if I’m wrong there is an issue in the wiring somewhere?

Many thanks.

If you disconnect the bulb holder completely if the fault goes its the holder / connections to it.

If it is still at fault it must be wiring
