Transit mk7 axle compatibility between body styles

Postby archie24789 » Mon Aug 11, 2025 11:34 am

I have a Mk7 Transit 2.4 430 minibus. It is a twin wheel with a 5 speed gearbox. I know the 5 speed gearbox is relatively uncommon in the minibus'. The rear axle has started making a noise. I think it would be easier for me to change the complete axle. However, when looking at ones available from breakers from one with a 5 speed gearbox. They seem to be all from chassis cab models. So my question is: Is it possible to put the rear axle from a chassis cab into a minibus?

All Mk7 twin wheel axle housings are the same whether they be a Jumbo, Luton, recovery, tipper, chassis cab or minibus...it's the final drive ratio which may differ...What ratio do you have now..?? What ratio are you planning on fitting..??

There are 9 ratios available for the Mk7's.
