Strange central locking and park pilot issue.. BCM ??

Postby iconiccampers » Mon Jan 13, 2025 9:16 pm

Evening..

I'm at a bit of a loss where to go with this problem..
Really hoping somebody might have some ideas as to what the cause could be..

2019 Transit Custom Limited (twin sliding door)..
Out of nowhere the van won't acknowledge the key fob unless the van is comepletely unlocked by double pressing the unlock button on the drivers door ??

If the van is completely unlocked then it will communicate with the key fob every time you press unlock..
But once you've pressed the fob to lock the van then it will no longer acknowledge the fob..
Then the only way to unlock the van is with the key blade !!

If I start the ignition and then lock the van using the button on the drivers door then it displays "rear load compartment door open" and "check park pilot"..
Also, when in reverse the park sensors show on the reversing camera up until you lock the van then they disappear ??

I've changed the rear load door lock and latch and it still throws up the same error messages..
I've checked the wiring harness on the drivers door and all is good..
Also checked the wiring harness on the rear loading door and they seem fine as well..

Strangely, if I leave the drivers side sliding door open and try to lock the van then the horn sounds to alert that the door is still open, however, it only happens on that door ??
When leaving all the other doors open individually then the horn never sounds the alert ??

There are no obvious error codes on the diagnostic check..
We've even updated the software for the BCM..

Finally, on live date..
When the doors are all shut the rear loading door shows as being OPEN when it's closed..
And when the rear loading door is open is shows as being CLOSED on the live data..
Basically the door is doing the opposite to the rest ??

I'm now stuck.. IS IT LIKELY TO BE THE BCM ??

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions or ideas..

Cheers
Craig...

Have checked the relevant fuses ?
I’m sure that locking and unlocking relays, and even certain doors aren’t all on the same fuse.
(That may be earlier models though,or even the transit/mk8,would have to look at wiring diagrams really)

Without entering your exact vehicle to narrow down the wiring diagrams, based on a 2.0 2019 custom, the following fuses are all locking related.
Fuses 16,24 and 3 in the BCM
Fuses 62,64 & 25,
61,63 & 26,19 all in the aux.fuse box.

If you’re converting this to a camper, are you sure you’ve not cut, trapped or screwed into a loom somewhere ?

If you believe it a BCM fault, you could remove and open it up looking for signs of ‘fluid’ ingress / corrosion,
This won’t cost anything, and if it’s obvious once opened up this would back up the theory before looking at replacing it…

It was rodent damage, chewed wire threw the rear lock out !!
Pesky mice…

He said he had "rodent damage" in the post above yours.....he hasn't been back since.
