Easy Manual VIN edition mk8

Postby snax53 » Sat Jan 31, 2026 8:04 am

Hi, I am looking to do my wet belt and check the set up of the rear diff, the diff seems to have excessive backlash which is noticeable when changing gear. There's no whine or noise so at a guess I am wondering if the previous owner has had the input shaft seal replaced and not put it back together with the shims in the correct position. I have found out it was an ex lease pickup working on the HS2 project so has been driving off road through slurry etc hence my theory of input shaft possibly being replaced.
Its a 2021 350 leader ecoblue c/cab with drw.

I am looking at purchasing a 'vin specific' Easy Manual for my pickup and was wondering if anyone would know if the wet belt and rear diff instructions will be in the Manual?

I have emailed Easy Manuals but still waiting on a reply.

Thanks for any info given.

Sorry, it should read 'the shims have been put back in the wrong position'

Not found a mk8 ecoblue manual .. i can give you a link to the "custom" ecoblue manual that i'm hosting FWD only transverse engine, so no diff details- send private message

As regards how to sort your diff out .. may not be exactly the same, but same principles

check out

part 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgUrlBXAiE0

part 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPTTUx19Wxw

other videos he has also cover other types

As regards easy manuals, it will be the ford published one and highly unlikely, its going to talk about the chassis cab in it .. only the basic van.

The ford manuals are not easy to follow .. and very hard to search through in pdf format

There are plenty of ecoblue wetbelt videos on youtube .. but in all of them ,the mechs use impact guns , so miss out on how to undo the crank-bolt using other locking of crankshaft methods... they also don't explain what can go wrong .. as it's become apparent that many times a gear that has a backlash mechanism in it .. is often the cause of misunderstandings and confusion, note: the ford manuals never go into enough detail and are very lacking. when it comes to engine .. and don't explain the gear.

The ford manuals are fantastically detailed on the "air con system" for some unknown reason, but not the other stuff where you need more detail.

Before you begin .. you'll need the cambelt , the oil pump belt , a new timing chain cover , crankbolt .. and a substantial wrench.

all the best.mark
