Help with Forscan readout

Postby Japsterex » Sun Feb 01, 2026 7:26 pm

Hello,

1st time using Forscan on new to me 2015 Tranist Custom 270 2.2tdci L1/H1.

Could someone give me some pointers on the Forscan readout below please:
Engine was cold and had just been started, some of the temp readings look strange for a cold engine.
Also the throttle position and DFP says 71% full, so wondering if any of the exhaust sensors being broken would be preventing a DPF regen?

I need to know what parts to buy to fix the problems

Thanks

Going by the inside temperature .. you've been running sometime... you don't say how long .. if you've done more than 20 miles or run more than 30 minutes when this event happened it's number 2 as showing 32c should be up there, above 80 c

so i would say
1. You have your heater on all the time in the cab so preventing engine reaching normal temperature .. 2. Or you have a faulty engine thermostat
3. Temperature sensor faulty

throttle position .. this could be the throttle valve in the manifold ... sorry I don't know how to determine what that should be or if its that or the pedal... another user here has it stuck at that amount... i don't know why ?

as far as i know - dpf will only regenerate at engine coolant temperatures above 80c

so establish if engine really is running cold or the temperature sensor is faulty .. or its you, all along robbing the heat. at temperatures of 7c outside with your heater on full blast ... it is possible to rob all the heat generated by the engine ... even up to ... i don't know.... 10 miles or knocking about more than that.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The engine had been running for a very short time, only to get it out of the garage onto the driveway. Didn't drive anywhere.
I then started it to take some readings and see what Forscan could give me (realtime data on a few items)

Outside temp looks about right at 7 degs C
Wouldn't expect the coolant temp to be much as only idling for about 2 minutes, no heating on in the cab
Also used it yesterday and coolant temp seems bang on in the middle of the guage.

Its the inlet temp of 26C and the exhuast sensor CATEMP12: 579 °C - Catalyst Temperature Bank 1, Sensor 2 which seemed odd

I appreciate the help!

sorry blurry eyed because of watching videos .. hard to focus, when i come from that to this .. getting old , read 26 as inside rather than inlet and tired

yes i would say something not right about things ... looks like its regenerating when it should not be

or sensors are reporting wrongly or defective

should be able to tell if it was 579c just by holding your hand six inches from it and steel glows a dull red at that temperature.

if its not the sensors, then google gives me this

A catalytic converter getting red hot immediately after startup is a sign of a severe, potentially damaging, and dangerous condition where unburned fuel is entering the converter and combusting inside

which i think would be injectors

so proceed with caution until you know the cause
