Forscan Diagnostics Suggestion

Postby metalworker0 » Thu Feb 05, 2026 2:51 pm

What we need here is a default upload of screen shots of the diagnostics showing all the pids [b]RELEVANT/b] to each engine in normal running conditions with no faults, so members can compare what it should show if an engine is running normally with no faults.

Fully warmed up, at tick over, at acceleration and at cruise

That would help me greatly

This from as me, i do not own forscan, (reason - ive not needed it yet, ive no laptop) but doing my best to understand it and guide people who are new to it.

Question - I AM STRUGGLING, should i just send them to the forscan forum OR continue.

And easier for me to explain to what it should look like and what pids should be loaded .. if i could point them to a post with all the screen shots showing what it should look like rather than often days of trying to explain.

Forscan forum has what they all need, or buy a cheap laptop, buy what you advise others too buy and become mr Forscan the metal dude...... I'm sure that'll keep you busy and give catcar a wee rest ( think you've broke it again)

Thanks for the support Andy, but even if i did have it, my lack of devices on my connect .. note: old style simplistic EGR , no DPF , its TDDI, no adblue, and no electronic injectors, probably wouldn't help my understanding of it . because most faults are from people who have all this overly complicated wizardry onboard.

Well leave them to it rather than try to sort someone else's problem that you don't understand.

Forscan is a great tool but with everything you can't teach monkeys to play grand piano Mozart but they can work out how to use a £10k diagnostics computer as a hammer.

Sometimes too much information causes far more grief than is solves, and the overuse of AI bulshit diagnostics can lead many down a merry dance akin to loading a parts cannon to solve a blown fuse.

Real first hand experience on the systems you understand will beet any second hand wordy bullsit and second guessing.

Sometimes less is more

Agree, using Ai is just asking for trouble...it just uses an algorithm instead of proper brain power.
