2012 minibus won’t start

My 2012 transit miles minibus RWD has been in the garage for 4 months. They have changed the high pressure fuel pump but it still won’t start. They thought there is air in the fuel line. I have had enough of that garage so it’s no longer there.

Wondering how I go about getting all the air out of the fuel system and hopefully it will start. It has 2 new batteries and fuel filter installed. There is a fault code on the EGR valve & glowplug No.1 but it started fine with these problems before.

It was around -30c when the problem first started so wondering if there was some water in the fuel that has frozen & cracked something to now let air in.

Any help would be great.

Euro-5's don't usually suffer from air in the lines as they have an in-tank lift pump.

What fault codes are you getting..??

If it's a 2.2 RWD 2012 Euro-5...it does....or should have.

For a start you can check that the in-tank pump is turning on.
Get someone to sit in it and cycle the ignition on and off without starting it, you outside with head in the tank area listening.. you should hear a click from the tank and maybe a wirrr of a motor if working.

if no sound of pump , hit tank with big rubber mallet .. if it then starts, so will your engine, the fault is then only temporally fixed, it will need a new pump

Not necessarily that one .. as ive not checked the part numbers

and you must check to see if its working , don't go replacing it willy nilly on a guess or whim.

Note .. pumps can be found as a separate item, (searching ebay or the net) you don't have to buy the whole unit, note pumps on their own are generic and will not be listed as ford or any make .. pump may have a number on the side of it that may lead you to the right one, to do the repair that way you must be a bit of a sleuth.. tracking things down .. if you don't have that nature in you ... you'll be buying the whole unit

hahe they tried giving it a squirt with easy start to see if it starts, you saying no pump in tank sounds why its not starting like ma laird knobby mentioned euro 5s have them,
buy the whole unit if you need to replace it, if pump not working it could be a wiring loom problem so you'll need to check for powers and grounds etc at the plug before buying a pump

They can be tripped out by a good knock,
Or I’ve seen people trip them chiselling the shear bolts that hold mirrors on
