vehicle pulls left and right

Postby andrewbs » Sat Jun 06, 2026 2:28 pm

I have a new Transit van with front wheel drive, which has covered just 400 miles.
On some slightly uneven road surfaces, possibly with a bit of "tram lining", at a speed of around 40 MPH, the vehicle suddenly pulls to the left, or right. It requires some force to pull the van back on course.

The steering is also quite "heavy", but I have not driven a front wheel drive vehicle for many years.

I have checked the tyre pressures and both front wheels are at 50 PSI, as recommended on the door sticker.

Has anyone else experienced this, or have any idea what might be causing it.

Frag. Yes, it's the current Transit van, V363 350 L3 H2, not a Transit Custom.

Dumper. Thanks, I will try turning off Lane Assist. This new van ("Limited" spec.) is so advanced, perhaps too advanced for its own good!

You’re right on that there’s too much technology on vehicles today some from the meddling governments and some from the manufactures who believe that we all want this amount of technology but it’s down cheapness to build them nowadays they put a touch screen in it’s too much faff yes the screen is good for things like the reversing camera but not for everyday driving every time I drive the van my normal routine is start it then go to the screen press the home button select vehicle settings to turn off the turbo killer sorry I ment stop start and the return to radio screen now if I want to turn on eco mode there’s a press button under the screen in the dash yes a real old fashion push button for that it would be better if this button had all the every day settings you need including heating and ac settings you will probably have that on the latest van on the screen.
All this technology from the manufacturer is to last the warranty period and n
Make sure when it it goes wrong you need to take it to the dealership at your own cost.
