Checked the resistance today and it was non existent, so I'll phone some garages tomorrow for a few prices. I did think about doing myself but the hassle of getting the system degassed and then gassed up again after I have fitted a new one is just a ball ache, plus working lying underneath on my back would be a nightmare. So I'll pay someone else and have the peace of mind it will have a guarantee on it for a while.

i don't quite know , but could you not buy just the clutch .. i don;t know if it could be swapped out in situ with the pump in place , and i don't know if that is your cure because the fan was going on and off as well

cant find it on ebay with transit custom 2.2

so you'll have to look up make and model of compressor to find it. as a separate component.

Not enough room to do that in situ. You would have to remove the compressor completely just to change those components, might as well fit a new compressor.
