Mk8 oil leakage search and recover need help please

Looking for the source of the leak..
There's splashes above the fan, see pictures.

Mechanic took the 'hood' off of the engine, the plastic cover that reveals the 4 injectors(?),
Cleaned most of the oil off, and said the top may be deformed and a gasket wouldn't help.
He also said the injectors may be seized and this would cost in the 1000s.
Can I check they are not seized?
Is he giving very general info?

There doesn't seem to be any oil coming from anywhere now.
Just parked up 5 hours ago and can't see any drips.
The lid of the fuel cap is got gunky oil.
I just bought it, and first run it didn't seem to have any oil .. the dipstick had nothing on it.
I put 1 litre in ran it 200 mile, then 2 more litres in, and now the dipstick shows half way up.

Any clues please.
Am a newbie. Have run mostly cars and bikes before.

if the mech cleaned it .. still looks oily to me

The way to check for oil leaks is to clean it first .. then observe it .. sometimes every few mins

de-grease with Jizer , white spirit , brake cleaner , paraffin, even diesel .. then flush surface with detergent and hose.

May need new rocker cover

Mech quoting worse case scenario price, if something goes wrong price or everything gone wrong price, its a sort of job that you only find out what wrong after you've taken it apart .

if it needed new injectors would be even higher than that.

Your oil consumption is excessive, may be due to one or more of these:
1. Blocked breather
2. Excessive leaks - from rocker cover
3. Injectors seats leaking, so making excessive crankcase pressure.. which will make it burn oil, or make it leak past all seals and gaskets,
4. high mileage worn out engine

No real way to tell how hard injectors will be to take out from here .. its down to how old it is -10 years .. and mileage?

btw .. the shiny-ness of the injector pipes may mean its already had resent work on the injectors, if so will be easy to take out.

5. Turbo on its way out, oil can leak oil into the boost pipes, it dribbles out at the joints .. in danger of causing a run-away if it gets worse, can pressurise the crankcase through the oil return line and cause leaks .. as well as use oil

I think it's a mark 8. (Latest is the Mk9 which is all electric..)

Mileage is around 170,000.. just done.. 167,762 on the clock

2.2L diesel

CR TC 14 (unsure what these mean..)

Would changing pipework to the turbo help? Any way to repair the joint work?

well part of a good service would be taking the boost pipes and intercooler off .. and cleaning them out.. this should be done maybe every 15,000 miles .. you could inspect pipes for damage and put back on . when you do that you could see if oil was pooled up around the turbo intake .. and inspect the impeller for play

impossible to speculate at this stage.
there are so many things that can cause the oil leaks .. when all i can see is oil everywhere.. that's why i say clean it all and observe where its coming from.

at this stage its a guessing game

one thing at a time . do the above initial clean first.

changing the pipe work won't help as there shouldn't be oil in there to come out (it's euro5)
injectors wont be seized
like the metal dude said the clean injector pipes might be sign of recent work been done (possibly injector seals been done)
the splashes of oil looks like its been run with oil cap off

dont spend money on any parts yet , give it a good clean
i use TFR undiluted through a garden pump sprayer and 3in masonry paint brush, avoiding the alternator and fuse box etc then jet wash then take it from there

and get yourself gloves before that black diesel oil gets on your skin (and any detergent) these are best gloves I've used and good prices
