Postby whippetman » Wed Dec 28, 2005 2:34 pm

hi,mines a r reg,am i right in saying that its a mk3,the probs i,ve got are,[2.5di]it starts great on warm days but nearly flattens the battery on cold days,it just turns and turns till it eventualy fire,s up,battery is only 590amp not sure if its enogh, plus it wont tick over for a minute from cold, when it first fire,s up there,s a lot of black smoke, but once warmed its hardly noticeable, but there,s no back pressure from the oil filler cap at all, have i bought a bummer lol, thanks whippetman

There are a couple of posts on the subject if you do a search - not too far back either (since the cold weather set in). Mine's the same, i'm afraid. There is a cold start mechanism (waxstat thingy) near the front of the engine which you can get someone to push in while you turn it over - might help a bit.

P.S. Why not go to Non Transit Talk forum & tell us why you're called whippetman?!
