rear facing spot lights

Quick question, I've got a pair of those rear facing spot lights that I want to mount on the roof at the back of the van, facing to the rear. These will be to aid with reversing and also light up the area behind the van when unloading/working. Question is, do I need to drag some wiring through to the back to run them off a seperate switch mounted in the cab or is there some wiring already there? How would you do it?

van is a 2001 new shape transit 350 LWB , med high roof.

Not sure of your particular van, but if I were doing it, I would add completely new wiring from battery to rear, due to the high current rating of spot lights. Install fuses at battery also. In my case I would use a relay to switch them on, with two activating switches, one in cab, one inside back doors.

Yep I'm with Sidspop.
Although you probably could use existing wiring it would be better to run new cable. I'm not sure I'd go as far as fitting a relay (though it would be very nice ) but fuses are essential.
Do you have a tow bar fitted with the aux electrical conncetion? What Wattage are your spot lamps? If you do and the spots are, say, 21W then you could probably connect to that.

I would run new wires with fuse, and a relay is a must nowadays with the quality of switches that you get, unless you get a switch heavy enough for the job.
