can anyone help me?

Postby nickm » Tue Jan 24, 2006 7:15 pm

i've been around transits for a long time and only just found this club today--i hope i'll be able to offer some input soon enough but i'm in need of a little help if anyone can advise--i've just had power steering fitted to my 1995 smiley transit and the nylon screw which keeps the pinions in place is useless--ford don't stock the part and i wondered if anyone has a damaged rack they can sell me so i can get the part i need?

it's between an inch and 2 inches in diameter
any help would be appreciated!

Does your local scrappy not have one you can butcher?

Alternatively take a pic of the part you need and ask one of the reconditioners if they can send you one.

Welcome to the forum BTW.

ford not sellingit seperately usually means the tight fisted gits want you to buy much more than you need, check with your local commercial service garage, as they will probably have come across this before, and will know where to get the part you need, also try steering reconditioning places as suggested above
